After being in the North WAY too long, it's finally time to head South!  Of course, packing up to leave, Lucile decided to protest the cold nights outside and no riding for over a month with a dead battery!  Luckily the mountains provide an opportunity to use gravity to our advantage and coast Lucile into the garage!

By the way, the issue with the motorcycle was the battery just died from being in the cold and not on a tender for a month. I think the pop noise was just a backfire when the battery shut off. Our lithium battery has a self-protection/restart feature where it shuts itself off when it gets below a certain charge.

Three Days of Travel

With just over 1000 miles from Franklin, NC to Key West, we broke it into four travel days.

Our first stop is a familiar stop-over at I-75 RV Park in South Georgia. We've stayed here many times now and it's an easy pull-thru right off the interstate.

Stop 2 is at one of our first ever RV parks, Timberlane RV Resort, in Bradenton, FL. This gave us the opportunity to visit with Chad's daughters around the solo stove!

Stop 3 is at another familiar location, Everglades RV Resort in Homestead, FL.

Key West! 🌴

The last travel day to key west is always the best! The drive down on US-1 with water on both sides is amazing!

This time around in Key West, like everything else during a pandemic, was a little different. Luckily, we had our new OUR Kayak and E-Bikes to keep us with plenty to do.

ORU Kayak 🚣🏼‍♂️

This was our first time to use our new ORU with the exception of setting it up and folding it up a few times for practice. What an amazing feat of origami engineering! When set up, this things is SOLID and paddles just like a kayak should! That was one thing we never liked about our inflatable in the past.. It paddled like a raft.

We bought ours refurbished because that's all that was available, but it seemed brand new to us! They will be releasing an updated version this spring and we'll be doing a video on the kayak then. But, we already highly recommend ORU. Such a great way to save space and still have a REAL kayak.
