We love the Smoky Mountains in the Fall! The fantastic views combined with the autumn colors are stunning! Having stayed in several RV parks and campgrounds in the area, we put this list together of our favorites!
The Great Outdoors (Franklin, NC)
With Chad's parents living in the area, we've stayed at this RV park a LOT, and it's still one of our top picks! If you're there in October, be sure to check out Franklin's Pumpkin Festival and our favorite activity there, the Pumpkin Roll!
Also in Franklin is Rose Creek Campground. We've not stayed there, but our viewers recommended it.
Both locations also have cabins, in case you don't have an RV.
Tuckaseegee RV Resort (Whittier, NC)
Another RV Park we love is Tuckaseegee RV Resort in Whittier, NC. This park is super easy to get into with no big hills to climb, and is located right on the Tuckasegee River. It's also very close to Cherokee, Bryson City, and Sylva, NC.
In Bryson City, you can hop on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad for a picturesque ride through all the fall beauty. They even sport a steam-powered train that's a real throwback (depending on the trip and time).
In Cherokee, be sure to visit the Oconaluftee Visitor Center before dusk to see the historic mountain farm and the herd of Elk that graze the large field adjacent to the center. Another viewer-recommended RV Park in the area is the Cherokee KOA Holiday.
Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground (Swannanoa, NC)
Heading east to the Asheville area, one of our newest favorite campgrounds is Mama Gertie's, which has been in a few recent videos of ours.
Being close to Asheville, there are a lot of things to see and do, including the Biltmore Estate and the Blue Ridge Parkway! Be sure also to check out the Retrocade in Ahseville if you're into 80's video games! 😊
Also near this area is the Junebug Retro Resort, where you can stay in a refurbished antique RV!
The Pineola (Newland, NC)
Just a little bit North of Asheville is The Pineola! We haven't shared that location yet, but we wanted to include it in this list! The Pineola is also very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which you can take up to Grandfather Mountain! Also very close is the very cute town of Linville, which is another town with a Fall festival.
Panther Creek State Park (Morristown, TN)
On the Tennesee side of the border, one of our favorite parks is Panther Creek State Park. This park has a ton of hiking and bike trails!
Also, on the Tennessee side, some parks mentioned by our viewers are Anchor Down RV Resort (Dandridge, TN) and Little Arrow Outdoor Retreat (Townsend, TN).
