Leaving Hanover Park Vinyards (Harvest Host), we head to a campground we've wanted to check out for a long time: Mama Gerties in Asheville, North Carolina!

Mama Gerties

Mama Gerties, like many mountain campgrounds, is built into the side of a mountain. As such, it has some very steep roads and tight turns! If you have a large RV, like us, you might want to scout the route to your campsite before taking the RV up. We planned on doing that but, for reasons we can't remember, decided to go for it!

We followed the park employee to our site, and boy, was it TIGHT and STEEP! It was a bit nerve-racking, but we had no problems getting to our site. And what a site it was! The front of our RV looks right over the private deck to an amazing mountain view!

Asheville Retrocade

In terms of things to do in Asheville, this one has been on Chad's radar for months! We finally got to go on a rainy day, and it was AWESOME! If you're a child of the 80s, this place is such a time machine! Add in some local brews, and it's a big winner!

Blue Ridge Parkway!

One of our favorite rides in the Smoky Mountains is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which cuts right through Asheville and was only 7 miles from the campground. But, this time, we rode a section of the BRP we'd never been on before and it did not disappoint! In fact this was the best section we've ever been on and includes some spectacular views!

In part 2 of this location video, we'll continue the BRP ride all the way to the top of Mt. Mitchell! 😎
