The Blowing Rock (via the Blue Ridge Parkway)
We found a beautiful day to get out on Lucile (our 2017 Indian Roadmaster), and head to a little town called Blowing Rock, NC. This section of the Blue Ridge Parkway did not disappoint, with spectacular views all around! After a quick snack at Six Pence Pub, we headed up to The Blowing Rock.
The Blowing is a famed natural attraction known for its unique geological formation and ancient folklore. Perched over 4,000 feet above sea level, this cliffside offers breathtaking views of the Johns River Gorge and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The rock formation is an immense cliff jutting out over the gorge, with strong wind currents that can sometimes return light objects thrown over the edge. This phenomenon, coupled with the panoramic vistas, makes The Blowing Rock a popular destination for tourists seeking natural beauty and a touch of mystery. The site's legend, rooted in Native American lore, adds a romantic and mystical aura to the experience, telling a tale of love and sacrifice associated with the rock's enduring appeal.
