After Grand Design retrofitted our Momentum 410TH, we were itching to hit the road, but first, I tackled a handful of projects to get our rig ready. From fixing a busted fender skirt to installing a game-changing microwave, these tasks prepped us for adventure. Plus, we’ve got a special announcement!

Fixing the Broken Fender Skirt

A chunk of our fender skirt vanished somewhere along the way back from Elkhart—maybe it flapped loose. I got a replacement, painted screws black, and used the old skirt to trace and cut the new one with a Dremel for a clean fit. Pre-drilling holes prevented splits, and it screwed into place easily, looking sharp and ready for the road.

Basement Mods: LED Switch Fix and Power Strip

In the basement, I fixed our RGB LED lighting switch, which got wonky after Grand Design replaced flickering LED strips. Swapping the hot lines for the front cap and underbelly lights restored control. We can now keep our underbelly lights on at night without the obnoxious glow from the front cap, which can disturb adjacent campers. While the wall was down, I added a power strip by tapping the central vac outlet. It’s perfect for charging our one wheel or e-bikes—no more running cords outside!

Camco: Gear for the Road (SPONSOR)

We’ve trusted Camco since our RVing days began in 2017, and their gear never fails us. With summer camping on the horizon, Camco’s 2025 lineup shines. Their TastePURE water filter delivers clean water and extends our onboard system’s life, while the EvoFlex2 drinking hose—light, kink-free, and easy to stow—makes camp breakdown days a breeze. Grab these at Walmart or Camco’s Amazon storefront to gear up for an epic season! Links below.

Securing Propane Tank Straps

The latches for the stock propane tank straps kept slipping off, a common issue you’ve shared online. I tested beefier clamp-style straps with a mounting plate for our 40-pound tanks. After 1,000 miles of rough roads, they held tight—no movement. These are keepers!

Restoring Kitchen Lights

Grand Design fixed our flickering kitchen lights, but installed can lights we didn’t love. I swapped them for our original geometric fixtures. With two screws and a few butt crimpa, it was a quick win, and the lights have been flawless since.

LG Convection Microwave Air-Fryer Upgrade

We really missed the convection microwave from our old 397TH, so I upgraded to an LG convection/microwave/air-fryer, inspired by Facebook posts. Ordered from Lowe’s for $499 (watch for price drops!) Mounting was tricky—new holes and a custom aluminum load distribution plate ensured a secure fit. It’s been a game-changer, replacing our Ninja air-fryer and even toasting bread! Watch this video if you plan on making this upgrade yourself.
