We're just about ready to leave Creede, Colorado but the fun is not over!

Silver Thread Scenic Byway Ride!

We had to get out on Lucile at least one more time before leaving Colorado and a ride over to Lake City via the Silver Thread Scenic Byway. The Silver Thread (State Highway 149) runs from South Fork, all the way to Gunnison, and is the steepest, maintained paved road in Colorado!

There are several scenic stops along the byway, one of which is North Clear Creek Falls. It was an easy walk to several overlooks from the parking area. Just the kind we like when decked out in our motorcycle gear.

Lake City, Colorado

We love visiting the old towns in the mountains and this one was an awesome step back in time! Lake City’s namesake – Lake San Cristobal is the second-largest natural lake in Colorado. It was formed hundreds of years ago by a rare natural earthflow called the Slumgullion Slide, which blocked the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River.

We explored a little bit, and had lunch at the Cannibal Grill! While there were no human dishes on the menu, we had an awesome lunch before heading back home.

One Last Day in Creede!

For our last day in Creede, we decided to head down to a local restaurant outside of town on the Rio Grande called Angler's Riverside Restaurant. We also explored the small RV Park there and scouted for large enough sites. We'd have no problem staying there next time for sure!

Since we didn't see any wildlife on our first trip around the Bachelor Loop with our friends in the city Jeep, we decided to give it one more go in the dually at dusk. Surely there will be some wildlife out in the evening!? Nope! Just a few squirrels! ☹️ But, it was a great ride once again and we proved it's doable in the dually. We did use 4WD in a couple of spots.

Next up in our travels is Angel Fire, New Mexico!
