After spending quality time with family over the holidays, it was time to hit the road for the first time in our new Momentum 410TH! True to what seems like a travel day tradition, we had precipitation. But this time, it was snowing, and we got out of there just in time to save some Sea Turtles! 🥶 🐢

New Life Sanctuary (Harvest Host)

After a brief mooch-docking stay with our friends Norm and Heather in Dade City and some time at the Florida RV Supershow, we headed to our favorite winter location: the Florida Keys! Since that trip takes longer than we like to travel in one day, we like to stay in the Homestead area on the way down.

This time, we decided to try a new Harvest Host location: New Life Sactuary. This location is perfect for our route as it's on Krome Avenue, a north-south highway far from the Maimi traffic!

New Life Sanctuary has room for several large RVs, with many of the open areas at the rear of the building, away from the road noise of Krome. NLS also has an online donation form for us to say “thank you,” which we strongly encourage.

The Turtle Hospital (Marathon Key)

Per usual, we mooch-docked at our friends Sean and Cathy on Big Pine Key. While there, we finally took the time to visit the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, FL. We've passed the Turtle Hospital many times over the years, always saying, “We need to go there!”

What we love about the Turtle Hospital is they do not keep the turtles in captivity unless they can no longer survive in the wild. Our tour guide educated us on the seven different breeds of sea turtles and some of the challenges they face from both manmade and natural elements. We then got a tour of the surgery center and rehabilitation pools.

We learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the tour!

The Turtle Hospital is 100 percent donation funded, and if you feel compelled to donate, you can do that right here!

More Keys Fun!

We also got to spend some time in Key West with an old college friend, Kelly, for her birthday. Kelly will be coming to stay with us and be our first guest in our new RV. Stay tuned for the following video for that!
