Just a few months ago, Indian announced the new 2020 Indian Challenger! This is a brand new bagger line for Indian and it’s loaded with new features! So, when it finally hit the showroom floor, we had to take a look!
Since we were in Savannah, we dropped by Indian of Savannah to check it out. While there, we met the GM / Operating Partner and “Director of Chaos”, Bob Millsap. He was gracious enough to tell us all about the bike and hook us up with a test ride!
Some of the features that stood out to us:
⚙️ “PowerPlus” Liquid Cooled 108CI V-Twin!
At 108 cubic inches versus the 111 cubic inches of the Power Stroke engine, this is the most powerful Indian motor to date, packing in 122 horsepower and 128 foot-pounds of torque!
⚙️ Fixed Fairing
A fixed fairing promises class-leading wind protection. Combined with Indian's power-adjustable windscreen, we found the wind to be a non-issue on our test ride!
⚙️ Inverted Shocks | Brembo Performance Brakes
The radially mounted racing spec brakes by Brembo, along with the inverted front suspension and adjustable ride make this bike hug the turns!
⚙️ New Ride Command
You know we love tech gadgets and the new Ride Command scratches that itch with several great new features! Along with tire pressure, entertainment system, etc. that we have on Lucile, the Challenger has:
- Integrated Cellular Data
- Integrated GPS with both Traffic and Weather over-lay (requires active cellular data)
- Adjustable Ride Profiles
The look of this thing just screams bad-ass and the ride confirms it! I wasn't sure how we'd feel about the fixed fairing and it mounted so much farther in front of us, but that seemed to make no difference in terms of wind. And the ride was just superb! With super-responsive handling, I can tell this thing would LOVE the mountain roads!
If Indian comes out with a touring model with lowers and a trunk, Lucile might be in for a trade!
