Solo Travel Back to the Cabin
This trip marked our first real solo travel days with the Lineage 31ZW, and it didn’t take long to get a feel for how different this rig is compared to towing a large fifth-wheel. The first day was all about settling into a rhythm — dialing in mirrors, learning sightlines, and getting comfortable with how the Lineage behaves on the road.
An overnight stop at Whispering Hills RV Park helped break up the drive and made the second solo travel day feel relaxed and predictable, which is exactly what you want when you’re still learning a new rig. Driving through the Smoky Mountains was both beautiful and stress-free.
As you may have seen in the thumbnail, one of the trip’s biggest moments came at the cabin, when we tackled our steep, loose-gravel road. This is a climb that requires attention, but the Lineage’s 4-wheel-drive system handled it like it was nothing. No drama, no hesitation — just steady, confident traction all the way up. That alone said a lot about what this RV is capable of if we need to go off pavement.
Setting Up the Lineage 31ZW for Travel
While the actual setup for this trip happened over the course of two days, none of it felt rushed or complicated. We took our time getting everything dialed in properly — from the RV itself to the Jeep — and that approach paid off once it was time to roll.
With this upcoming trip, we’re trying out a new TPMS, swapping out our TST-770 for the new RoadTech TPMS. (Nothing wrong with the 770 at all – we just like to try out new gear). Using the RoadTech’s touch-screen interface is so easy, I didn’t even bother reading the directions. Setting up all 10 tires took about 15 minutes, start to finish. Sensors were paired quickly, pressures and temperatures populated immediately, and everything just worked. It’s one of those critical pieces of RV gear that adds confidence without adding hassle, which we always appreciate.
We also set up the Thule EasyFold XT on our Jeep. We’ll be covering that in much more detail in an upcoming video, so this was just a quick introduction rather than a full breakdown.
Jeep Flat Tow Setup (More Coming Soon)
This trip was also our first time fully connecting the Jeep for flat towing behind the Lineage. We intentionally kept this section light because the flat-tow setup really deserves its own dedicated video.
The base plate and wiring were very labor-intensive DIY projects, and there’s a lot of value in walking through that process step by step rather than glossing over it here. For now, the goal was simply to confirm that everything worked smoothly in real-world travel conditions — and so far, it has.
We’ll be diving much deeper into this setup very soon.
Liquified (Sponsor)
Before wrapping up our travel prep, we handled one of those necessary RV tasks that nobody loves, but everyone deals with — the black tank. Once again, we relied on Liquified.
We’ve used Liquified for years, and it continues to be the easiest and most effective tank treatment we’ve found. The built-in measuring chamber makes dosing simple — squeeze, pour, flush, done — with no powders, no mess, and no guesswork. When you’re traveling and setting up as much as we are, having something that’s this straightforward makes a big difference.
